Last year was the best year we've had in Scheck Industries' history. As we
move into 2009, we celebrate 25 years in business, and our momentum
continues. Our future is bright because of the diversifi cation of our
customers. The recent stimulus plan represents a signifi cant investment in
infrastructure, energy, healthcare, and education. With our history working
in some of these markets I am very excited about the impact that this will
bring to our industry.
I am most proud of the safety awards that our companies have been
recognized for in 2008. You can read about these in our 2008 "Year
in Review." These awards are the result of the hard work of our safety
department, supervisors, and tradespeople. They have kept, and continue to
keep, all our Scheck employees safe. They deserve a big "Thank You" from all of us for a job well done!
I would like to thank UA General President Bill Hite, general offi cers, board members and representatives for being
so proactive in the 2008 Presidential Campaign process to support Union Labor and for the incredible programs that
have been created by the UA including: the Veterans in Piping (VIP); UA Standards for Excellence; and fi nally the
UA Hybrid Welding Program, in partnership with UA Local 597 Pipe Fitters', and Business Manager Jim Buchanan.
We all know that these are trying fi nancial times. I remain confi dent that Scheck will continue to be successful
during this period because, as a company, we offer a unique service of high productivity at a reasonable cost to our
customers. That is what we all need to do in order to keep America strong.
Sincerely,
Richard N. Scheck
A Letter From The President
Richard Scheck, President of Scheck
Industries, has had a passion for making a
difference in his community, holding the
position of mayor of the Village of North
Riverside for the past 20 years. In April of
2009, Mayor Scheck will complete his fi fth
and fi nal term and will be truly missed by
his community.
Mayor Scheck Retires
In May of 2009 it will be 2 years since
losing our dear friend, cousin and
nephew. To celebrate the life of our
good friend Edward S. Scheck and to
raise money for a great cause, Eddie's
childhood friends started the Ed Scheck
Classic Golf outing in 2007! The 2nd
annual event was held on July 13, 2008
and it was a day fi lled with joy, laughter,
divots, shanks, broken clubs and a
few cocktails -- just as Eddie would
have liked it! All proceeds from the
event benefi t the American Heart
Association. A special thanks to Eddie's
friends, family, sponsors, contributors
and participants for remembering
him in such a profound way and for
creating an event that will continue to
make a difference in so many lives.
Eddie Scheck Classic
"Eddie will be remembered by the enormous impact he made on
The Scheck Organization," said Eddie's Uncle Rich. "He always
put others before himself and had a profound knack for providing
a memorable experience for all who met him. His smile will be
remembered by all of us."
Cheers to Eddie, for fi lling a spot in all of our hearts!
"I enjoyed my time working down at the Pillsbury job in Chicago
and it was always fun to spend time in the Scheck trailer as you guys
had your stuff together, of which Eddie was a key part of."
"He was XXL in his love of life. Eddie's size, hair, good looks, mind,
and personality put him into a class of people that are few and far
between. He was born with a gift that he shared with all he met."
"His energy and enthusiasm were infectious. It can never be said
that he didn't pack a lot of living into his short time here. In his
new home in Heaven I would bet that souls are already picking
up the pace to keep up with him."
"He stepped in and did a fantastic job for us at Ford - but more
importantly we enjoyed his friendship, his humor, and his larger
than life personality."
"I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Eddie out at
the Fibro-Minn plant in Benson, MN. He was always generous,
compassionate, and loved a good time."
"It was impossible not to smile when you saw him, and his
personality made long days in the refi neries go a little easier."
"If anyone epitomized carpe diem (seize the day), it was Eddie."
