Walking and Running for a Cure
Marc Thompson has been employed at
Scheck Mechanical Corporation for
fi ve years and has been instrumental
in procuring the company's current
workload. As Scheck's Manager of
Estimating, Marc brings an abundance
of experience and knowledge due to
his background in managing large
piping and boiler projects for Babcock
and Wilcox (B&W) and Foster Wheeler.
He is also instrumental in the pre-
qualifi cation process for the company
for future projects, assisting with
project turnover, and negotiations
of projects with our clients.
"Marc is one of the most well respected
young men in our organization. He is
extremely dedicated to his work, his
family, and to our organization. We all
look forward to a long future in
working with Marc," Rick Scheck said.
Most of Marc's free time is spent with
his family of fi ve including his wife
Becky and his three sons; Tyler (6),
Tucker (4), and Tanner (2). His
passion for baseball has landed him
a coaching spot for his sons Tyler
and Tucker's T-Ball team. His other
passion is deer hunting, and Marc
believes the only way to deer hunt
is with the old fashion bow & arrow.
Great job Marc!

Over the past few decades a special
bond has been formed between
Seguin Services and Mayor Scheck
of North Riverside. Headquartered
in Cicero, Illinois, Seguin Services is a
not-for-profi t agency that supports
children and adults with disabilities
and other special needs. In 2005,
Mayor Scheck became aware of the
"Building a Better Life" campaign,
which sought to raise $3.5 million to
provide major renovations for the
Carr Center, Seguin's main center for
day services and operations. Mayor
Scheck reached out to Tom Collins,
Business Manager of Local 281, who
agreed to donate labor to Seguin as
part of a Local 281 apprenticeship
program to install a new fi re
sprinkler system.
"This is a win-win-win situation,"
Mayor Scheck said. "The union gets
on-the-job training, Seguin received
donated labor, and the community
benefi ts from Seguin and its services."
A special thanks to Local 281, Tom
Collins, and John Zubricks for their
contribution to such a worthy cause
and for providing safety and security
to all of those who enter the doors
of the newly renovated Carr Center.
Mayor Scheck has done a lot for
Seguin as a community leader, a donor,
an employer, as a connector, and
an inspiration to others. For more

Mayor Scheck Befriends Those Who Need Him Most
The 10th annual Betty Scheck Shuffl e was held
July 26, 2008 to raise money to help fi nd a cure for
cancer. It was an emotional day for participants,
particularly for Mayor Richard Scheck. A surprised
Mayor Scheck was this year's winner of the Charmaine
Kutt Big Heart Award. When Kutt lost her battle with
cancer in February 2008, the award was given her
name to refl ect and celebrate her courage, community
commitment, family, friends, and life. She went out
of her way time and time again to comfort and inspire
people. She is missed and will never be forgotten.
For the past 10 years we have used this event to
raise money and awareness for those fi ghting cancer.
But more importantly it is something we do as a
family, an ever-growing Scheck family, who is so proud
of "Grandpa Scheck" and all of his accomplishments.
Throughout the past decade he has been an incredible
mentor, promoting early detection, awareness,
research and education for those who have been
affected by cancer.
"It means so much to our family to have those we work
with in the business community continue to support
our event year after year. We have so much gratitude
for each and every one of them" said Richard (Mayor)
Scheck. "They have helped us to raise over $1.5
million over the past 10 years and it has truly made
a difference in the lives of thousands of people
throughout the country."
