Riding for a Cure on America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride

The Scheck Family made a promise that it would continue to fight for a cure even though the final Betty Scheck Shuffle was run over a year ago. The Family continues its efforts through various functions such as the Black and White Ball and others. Megan Scheck, her beloved cousin Devon Marth, and group of tight knit friends decided to give the 20th Annual America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride a run for its money. The 100 mile biking odyssey tours riders around beautiful Lake Tahoe up and down challenging elevation changes in the mountains. Last year, Megan dedicated herself to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer a 39 mile trek in honor of a friend who at the time was battling the insidious disease. Today, her friend is in remission and the prognosis is good.

This year Megan dedicated herself to her cousin Devon, who is a 10 year survivor.

"I am proud of my cousin, as a mother, wife, friend and person. For those of you who
know her she lights up a room when she walks in. Her fever for life is contagious. And
lastly she has taken her triumph over cancer and continues her fundraising efforts along with making memories with her friends and family. Devon, I was so proud to be a part of your team." Megan Scheck

The group of determined women trained with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team-In- Training. All of the participants on Team-In-Training raise funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Megan completed this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers.

Nearly 1600 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training participants as well as 1100+ dedicated participants started the ride with wet roadways, and freezing temperatures. The women happily endured sub-par conditions knowing the real hardships of facing Cancer each and every day. In the end Megan and her team raised a total of $35,991.00.

Thanks to all Scheck employees and family members who supported Megan on the road to finding a cure.
