
As acting Mayor of North Riverside Illinois, Mr. Scheck was responsible for creating jobs for Seguin individuals through the contractual snow removal program he developed with Seguin, to address the needs of seniors in North Riverside. In October of 2009 the Scheck Family donated Rascal's Restaurant, a value in excess of $1.6 million, located in La Grange Park, Illinois to Seguin. Opening the restaurant, Rascals, was a lifetime dream of the family and its late matriarch. Seguin converted the property into a Senior Center and it is named in honor of the late Betty Scheck.
In June of 2007, Rich was honored by Seguin’s at their annual Celebration Gala with the President’s Award for his dedication and support of the organization over the years. His efforts in working with Sprinkler Fitters Local 281 to utilize apprentices under the guidance of skilled supervisors who donated their time for the supply and installation of the fire protection system in the $3.5 million dollar Carr Center. It provided hands on experience for the apprentices for such a great cause! “This really is a win-win-win situation,” said Mayor Scheck. “The union gets on-the-job training, Seguin receives free labor and the community benefits from Seguin and its services.” We have included a video, which was shown at this Gala highlighting the involvement of Mayor Scheck.
In September of 2009 Seguin Services dedicated The Scheck House, in North Riverside, Illinois in honor of Richard N. Scheck. Mr. Scheck was recognized for his longtime support of children and adults with developmental disabilities served by Seguin.
