“In It to End It” - Chicago Raises $7.7 Million to Fight Breast Cancer

Noted for its Lake Michigan shoreline and downtown skyline – considered by many as the most picturesque skyline in the world – America’s third-largest city played host to Avon Walk Chicago on June 4-5, 2010.

Good things happened when six childhood friends got together and decided that they wanted to participate in this two-day 39.3 mile event and heard stories from others as to how an event like this truly changes your life. Their team name was “Breast Friends Forever” and they began their journey to raise funds for such a great cause by planning a social gathering for friends, family and loved ones to raise funds for their team. This party was not only an overwhelming success but it brought awareness to the goal of the Chicago Walk to all those who attended.

The girls then trained by walking and “chatting” every Sunday for weeks leading up to the event. “Being able to spend two days walking with some of your dearest friends, all the while helping the city’s breast cancer community gain momentum and take one step closer to a cure was very special for me,” said Megan Scheck. Their team and thousands of other participants walked, and walked and walked so that women and men can get the medical care they need regardless of their ability to pay, and leading research teams can receive vital support in their ongoing search for a cure. GREAT JOB LADIES!!! A special thanks to all those at Scheck who donated to the “Breast Friends Forever!”
